Wow, well the time is flying by! Still we have 2 more months to go. Josh and I have yet to feel a sense of urgency about our little one. There is still so much to do. Aside from sorting through stuff to determine what's garage sale worthy and not, the nursery is far from complete. At this point we have the nursery walls painted in Valspar's Seaside Retreat color Beachnut, which I describe as a warm khaki neutral and suitable for a girl's room.
We have the floors done in Pergo's Vintage White Pine laminate (due to our 2 very active German Shepherds, real hardwood floors are not an option). We have replaced all the carpet in our house with laminate flooring. Even though I miss the soft feel of carpet, I don't miss the stains, the dust that gets trapped in it no matter if you steam clean it, and the worn look after a few years.
We just ordered her furniture. It's the Tori room package in espresso from JC Penney on sale for $899.99! I can't wait for it to arrive (hopefully in the next week or 2). I feel like I can't start decorating the nursery until the major furniture is there and situated. Here is a photo of the crib. The set includes a changing station and a dresser. A hutch can also be purchased to go on the changing station, but we decided to wait on that. The nursery is the smallest room in our house and aside from not really needing the hutch at this time, it may make the room look even smaller.
I have been debating on what to do for her crib bedding and have finally decided that I'm going to attempt making my own.
I found a few photos of very simple ones to use as a guide.Josh and I found a fabric that we both really liked, which is what persuaded me in the end. Its base color is white and the design is khaki, pale pink, and pale green in color. I will simply purchase fitted sheets in any or all those colors, which will be easy to find. I will also make a valence identical to the bed skirt and pair it with a set of solid colored curtains matching the fitted sheet. I will post photos of the fabrics as we purchase them.
